"... Finally, economic issues are also a critical area. So long as people are part of the physical world, meeting their economic needs is an essential task and also a spiritual one. They need to be taught to understand money and how it should be earned and used. Further, a strong economic base needs to be built through good social enterprise. "
Missionary Jung Kyu An, "Complex Africa: The glory of the Gospel is the only true realistic answer.“
What the poor want is an opportunity to work, not just a hand-out.
It is also their basic right to have a job that provides a sense of accomplishment through all their efforts.
Job creation through business as mission, coupled with bible based training on how to live diligently and best use money, is an important task that should not be overlooked in making disciples of Jesus.
The purpose of BAM is to reveal Jesus Christ through business and fulfil the Great Commission. For this purpose, the Sydney Hosanna BAM Team has established a hostel business in Cambodia based on biblical values, which can be a positive influence and bring holistic transformation to individuals and the community.
We seek to inspire Christian entrepreneurs all over the world to consider and participate in business as mission. Through this we hope that physical and human resources will flow into the mission fields as a natural consequence. We also work closely with missionaries in the mission fields so that the employees are connected to a local church and receive the gospel in order for them to live the life of a faithful witness of Jesus. Through training and sound biblical teaching we also help build up and disciple employees of BAM businesses to live out their faith and help those in need in their society.
The Sydney Hosanna BAM Team will continue to carry out Business As Mission principles as defined as follows:
1. Aspire to see the Kingdom of God expanded into the business domain;
2. Reveal Kingdom values into the business's operation and services;
3. The Business strives to be profitable and sustainable through adopting and/or embracing integrity, sound business practices and outstanding customer service;
4. Kingdom motivation and purpose; ie. to have life and have it to the fullest and a plan that must be shared by senior management and shareholders;
5. Holistic transformation of communities and individuals;
6. Set high standards in respect of welfare of employees, treating employees with dignity and providing opportunity for personal growth;
7. Intentionally implement ethical Christ honouring practices that does not conflict with the gospel;
